Time is on Your Side…NOT
It’s 2016 and one month is gone already. Many of us started the year with aggressive sales goals and at this juncture – one month in – I need to ask you, “how are things going?”
I’m not expecting that a significant amount of new business could be closed in just these 4 weeks but how about the activity – how are you doing with that?
Prospecting calls. Emarketing. Touch point management. Networking. All of those things that when integrated together fuel your sales engine. How are you doing with those?
If you are a solopreneur you might have to be your very own task master. Those with a Sales Manager may find that they have it somewhat easier to stay on task.
Regardless time is passing by and if you’re not doing what you have to do to accomplish what you want to accomplish well then, you’re kidding no one but yourself.
- Refine the action plan that you established at the beginning of January and if you didn’t create a plan, do one now. Be realistic about your productivity and anticipated results.
- Network more and be strategic. There’s no two ways about it. Networking will provide you with ROT (return on time) but ONLY if you are strategic and proactive.
- Stay on the grid. Develop a touch point management plan that enables you to stay visible and recognizable to all of your prospects and referral sources. Fall off their radar screen and you will always be scrambling for their business.
- Be consistent. Just because you won a piece of business doesn’t mean that you can stop your business development initiatives. They must continue…forever!
- Don’t kid yourself. If you think the first month went by quickly then wait till you see what happens as we pick up steam and move through the year. Productivity counts. The days you lose to inertia will come back to bite you in the end.
