You just keep me hanging on. There isn’t a sales rep in the world that doesn’t know the feeling.
- I’m thinking about it.
- I’m meeting with my partners.
- We have to check the budget.
- Not now; maybe later.
And on and on. Of course most of us “seasoned” sales reps know what to say when faced with each of these statements and we march forward and attempt to deal with the “stall.”
But no matter how good a sales person you are, no matter how talented at dealing with push back and resistance, the final push of the lever…the power to move forward or not…lies in the hand of the prospect.
We salespeople can do everything correctly and present a most persuasive presentation to any or all decision-makers and yet…you just keep me hanging on.
What does this seasoned salesperson do? I keep moving on. I never have all of my eggs in that proverbial one basket. I am never thrown for a loop when a stall occurs.
