Some Inexpensive or Free Sales "Ideas" to Attract Clients
Want more new clients? Of course you do?
Have lots of money for marketing and client attraction? Mmm, maybe not but that doesn’t mean you have to be dead in the water. Heck no, there’s lots of things that you can do that cost well, little or nothing. (Full disclaimer: while you can engage in many of these efforts for absolutely no money at all, many of them would benefit from having an expert work with you on execution and the like, BUT as I said, you can jump in and do them alone as well).
Here ya go (and in no order of importance):
- Create a YouTube channel and start uploading videos. YouTube rocks and if you haven’t already done so, it’s time to jump on the bandwagon. Think about doing some 1 minute videos in which you provide information and answers to questions that your clients always ask. These informational videos can also be posted on Facebook, the link included in your signature line, etc. And yes, you can create them using your webcam or even the video on your smartphone.
- Do an information webinar or telesession and be seen as a thought leader and subject matter expert. There are many low cost and free platforms to use and you can usually have your show recorded, once again giving you something to send out to your database.
- If you haven’t already done so, create a newsletter to keep you visible and relevant and positioned as a subject effort.
- Attend relevant trade shows, gather exhibitor cards and build a prospect list to reach out to and offer your products or services. Be sure to not attempt to “sell” to the exhibitors. After all, they’ve paid money to participate in the show and it is very poor etiquette to hit on them at the show.
- Schedule small intimate networking gatherings in your office or at a local (inexpensive) restaurant and start to grow your storehouse of excellent referral sources. Be certain that there can be reciprocity; you don’t want to get pinned as a “taker.”
- Write an ebook or ebooklet and use them for lead generation. (It’s not as difficult as you think!). The best strategy would be to develop a landing page for the book/booklet and these can be executed at minimal expense.
- If appropriate for your type of business, consider running a contest on social media to attract visibility and attention.
- Write articles and post them on article sites (i.e. Ezine Articles, Evan Carmichael, etc.), once again positioning yourself as a thought leader and subject matter expert.
- Comment on blogs that are read and followed by individuals and companies that fall into your “sweet spot.”
And…wow…there are so many more things that you can do for little or no expense. (Notice that I didn’t say little or no TIME).
Most importantly, you MUST prioritize because even though you won’t be incurring any (major) monetary expense, you will be spending time strategizing, developing, following up and measuring. If you’re not prepared to do so then hold off doing much of anything until you develop an action plan. Moving forward in a haphazard fashion will generate little or no results.
And that’s not the goal, is it?
